WHAT YOU CAN DO!

Without public demand for law and policy to protect wildlife and to counter the organized efforts of well funded and well connected special interest groups, persecution of the wolf, coyote, and other carnivores will continue. Similarly, the Wolf Management programs of the government are likely to remain anchored in old mind sets, entrenched in inhumane habits. Up rooting institutional cruelty requires public scrutiny, pressing for information (Freedom of Information Program), and vigilance in holding the people and their system accountable.

What You Can Do to Help

  • Educate yourself. There are many articles, links and other sources available to help you get the facts. We also have a YouTube page. Contact us also to have Wolf Matters representatives come to your school, community center, church, etc and give a wolf presentation.
  • Tell your friends and spread the message! Join us on Facebook and Twitter and share our links and posts.
  • Donate to Wolf Matters and help us raise funds to be able to participate at events, print up more educational materials and keep our billboards erected on the highway.
  • Check back often to our Calls To Action alerts
  • Write to your MLA and other legislative lawmakers.  Original handwritten letters are thought to be the most effective, second to typed hand signed personal letter. Ask for a reply. Though email is thought to be less effective than letters or faxes, adding an auto signature to your emails does lend more weight. (see our link on letter writing tips and contact information).
  • Support LUSH Handmade Cosmetics and their Charity Pot Program.
  • Download & Send our quick and easy Postcard
  • Write Letters to the Editor of your local newspaper.
  • Support non-hunting outfitters
  • Support predator friendly farms and ranches and non-hunting outfitters. Farms in Alberta can and have been “Certified Predator Friendly” for their non-lethal methods of predator control.
  • Come to one of our upcoming events, meet our volunteers, ask questions.
  • Report any suspicions and abuses you may encounter to authorities (and media). In a land so vast, harm to animals and environment is often hidden and law difficult to enforce without public help.
  • Put up posters, small signs or bumper stickers on vehicles to show your support and generate interest and conversation on the issues.
  • Show your support by purchasing and wearing a T-shirt. All funds raised go towards helping raise awareness about the perils faced by Alberta wolves.
  • Support local wolf/wildlife advocacy groups
  • Applaud and support manufacturers who do not use real fur products.
  • Support land preservation for wildlife.
  • Sponsor or propose an educational program for your local school.
